Thursday, November 10, 2016
SWF Project Manager Ian Christensen gave a presentation focusing on the policy and regulatory context for "non-traditional" commercial space applications at the World Space Risk Forum 2016, held in Dubai, UAE from November 2-4, 2016. The World Space Risk Forum is the largest industry event focusing on the space insurance community, including insurers, re-insurers, brokers and both launch and satellite operators.
Mr. Christensen presented as part of a panel which discussed "Regulatory and Legal Trends/Implications" of commercial space activities, with a particular focus on space resources (or space mining) developments. Mr. Christensen's presentation focused on the set of policy and regulatory issues raised by the development of "non-traditional" commercial space applications - those beyond telecommunications, remote sensing, and space launch. His slides can be found here.
