SWF Brussels Office to Close at Year End

In an effort to ensure that Secure World Foundation’s spending is consistent with the revenue provided by its endowment, the Foundation’s Board has decided to close its liaison office in Brussels at the end of 2013.  Recognizing the fine work of Agnieszka Lukaszczyk and Natassa Antoniou, its two staff members in the Brussels office, SWF offered both of them the opportunity to transfer to one of the two remaining offices in the United States, but both have elected to pursue other opportunities in Europe.

“We have made wonderful progress in our relationship with European institutions dedicated to sustainable use of outer space,” said Foundation Executive Director, Dr. Michael Simpson, “but Brussels is a very expensive city and the challenges of supporting an office there proved to be more than we could sustain.”

The Foundation plans to maintain an active schedule of engagement with Europe and its institutions in the coming years and will remain very involved in advocating for an international code of conduct for outer space activities.
