[Postponed] The Relevance of Economic Models to Space Debris Policy

When: Thursday, March 19, 2020

The Relevance of Economic Models to Space Debris Policy
Embassy of Italy
3000 Whitehaven St. NW
Washington, DC

EVENT IS POSTPONED

This full-day workshop will assess the relevancy of current economics based approaches to address the potential challenges posed by space debris in in particular the low Earth orbit (LEO) environment. Presentations and discussions at the workshop will consider the relevancy of competitive dynamics, pricing, and achieving value in LEO services as factors in developing economics-based approaches to space debris mitigation. Along with price and market incentives, will either taxes or financial penalties imposed by governments to help pay for debris solutions be needed?

This event is being organized by SDA Bocconi School of Management-SEE Lab, the Secure World Foundation, and the Space Policy Institute as part of a series of workshops analyzing the evolution of a sustainable space environment and economy.
