When: Monday, March 11, 2019
Where: SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milan, Italy
The Secure World Foundation partnered with the SDA Bocconi School of Management-Space Economy Evolution (SEE) Lab, and the George Washington University Space Policy Institute to organize a one-day invitation only workshop on March 11th, in Milan, Italy entitled “Mining the Moon for Profit: A Case Study in Space Resource Utilization.” It was part of a series of workshops analyzing the evolution of a sustainable space environment and economy.
The workshop provided increased understanding of the economic uncertainties in this area, as a resource to both the business and policy communities. The workshop discussed the following (and other) questions:
- Is space resource utilization sustainable with only non-government customers?
- What is the role for the government as a purchaser of services/products?
- What PPP models are important/appropriate to enable the development of a private-sector market in space resources?
A report summarizing this event is forthcoming. For more information, please direct any questions to SWF Director of Private Sector Programs, Ian Christensen.
