2nd ORF Kalpana Chawla Annual Space Policy Dialogue

When: Wednesday, February 24, 2016

to Friday, February 26, 2016

Where: New Delhi, India

Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-American woman in space, was part of a growing trend of cooperation in space between India and the United States. In honor of Ms. Chawla and her tragic death on the Columbia Space Shuttle, the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) initiated an annual dialogue highlighting the success of India’s cooperation with all the major spacefaring powers in space activities.

Furthermore, this dialogue allowed for the discussion of the socioeconomic challenges on Earth that must still be overcome in order to expand on the example of research and international cooperation set by Ms. Chawla.  Secure World Foundation co-sponsored the 2nd ORF Kalpana Chawla Annual Space Dialogue held in New Delhi, India.

This conference was primarily organized by incoming SWF advisor, Rajeswari Pillai Rajagopalan; and included the participation of former SWF advisor Kazuto Suzuki.
