2015 AMOS Dialogue in Maui
When: Thursday, September 17, 2015
Where: Maui, Hawaii
In 2013, Secure World Foundation (SWF) partnered with the Maui Economic Development Board (MEDB) to hold the inaugural AMOS Dialogue during the 2013 Advanced Maui Optical and Space Surveillance Technologies (AMOS) Conference. The goal of the workshop was to foster dialogue among space situational awareness (SSA) providers and end users thereby promoting greater collaboration and cooperation toward SSA-enabled safe and responsible space operations. In February, 2014, a second Dialogue was held in Tokyo, Japan, as part of the Japan Space Forum's 3rd International Symposium on Sustainable Space Development and Utilization for Humankind. The second Dialogue also focused on collaboration between SSA providers and end-users, as well as on Asia-Pacific perspectives. The third Dialogue was held in Maui during the 2014 AMOS Conference and focused on the interactions and collaboration between governmental SSA initiatives and private sector initiatives and opportunities for improving communication and collaboration.
The fourth AMOS Dialogue was held on September 17, 2015, as part of the 2015 AMOS Conference in Maui. Participants included governments, military, satellite operators, technical experts, and NGOs. The topic was space traffic management, and the discussions focused on addressing the gaps in the current operational capabilities and governance mechanisms to improve on-orbit safety and sustainability.
